Brollan got benched by MOUZ in April. He lifted a trophy with HEROIC in July, to the exact day. Down the hall, MOUZ finished picking up the pieces of that breakup by signing a player they used to own. Saudi Arabia locked in the field for a tournament that didn't exist a year ago, BLAST unveiled a format that turns prize money into a bounty hunt, and Mongolia got its first seat at Counter-Strike's top table.

🏆 Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin was benched by MOUZ on April 18. He won a trophy with HEROIC on 18 July, exactly three months later. Major roster-lock rules forced a strange detour in between: he still played the Cologne Major for MOUZ in June, since his contract technically ran through it, before actually departing the org that month. HEROIC swept K27 3-0 in the Stake Ranked Episode 3 grand final in Barcelona, completing an unbeaten run through the $100,000 event. 

Captain Linus "nilo" Bergman anchored it, averaging a 1.19 rating across the tournament, and the win jumped HEROIC ten places up the Valve ranking, from 37th to 27th. Brollan, who spent over a year as MOUZ's in-game leader before getting benched, slotted back into a rifling role next to new signing Antonio "MartinezSa" Martinez. It was the rebuilt roster's tournament debut, and it went about as well as a debut can go.

🔄 MOUZ closed the loop on the Brollan benching by signing an 18-year-old they already used to own. MOUZ completed its rebuild by bringing back Oldřich "PR" Nový from GamerLegion, passing over Justinas "jL" Lekavicius, who had filled in as a stand-in at PGL Astana and the CS Asia Championships. PR replaces Jimi "Jimpphat" Salo, who left for Aurora, and joins xertioN, torzsi, Spinx and xelex. 

Analysts read it as a tactical statement as much as a roster move: swapping Jimpphat's passivity for PR's aggression frees Lotan "Spinx" Giladi to sit back, and MOUZ's four riflers now average over $2,225 in weapon value with a combined ADR of 369, trailing only Vitality's 380 and Spirit's 376. With the Esports World Cup already underway in Paris, PR is set to make his official squad debut today in BLAST Bounty's online stage.

🌍 24 national teams are locked in for a $1.32 million tournament that didn't exist a year ago. The inaugural Esports Nations Cup finalized its Counter-Strike lineup this week after regional qualifiers wrapped July 17-19, cutting a field of 87 qualified squads down to 24 countries. The event runs in Riyadh this November: BO1 round-robin groups, BO3 single-elimination playoffs, a BO5 grand final. 

The rosters read like a fantasy draft. Owen "smooya" Butterfield and Oscar "AZUWU" Bell suit up for the United Kingdom, Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz for Germany, Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom for Morocco. Nine of the original 96 planned national qualifiers got scrapped for lack of registrations, mostly across Sub-Saharan Africa, a reminder that Counter-Strike's global footprint is still patchy even as its showcase events go bigger and stranger.

💰 Win a match at BLAST Bounty and you don't just advance, you take half your opponent's money. BLAST's $1.15 million Bounty Season 2 opens online July 21-26 before the top eight head to Malta for LAN finals July 30-August 2. The format's hook is its economy: each of the 32 teams, 28 seeded by ranking and four wildcards, carries a bounty into a draft-style bracket where lower seeds pick their opponents from the higher seeds. Win, and you claim 50% of the loser's bounty while the rest carries forward to the next round. 

Natus Vincere, 9z, BetBoom, Legacy and PARIVISION are all notably absent from the field. It's a stranger structure than CS usually runs, more heist than ladder, and it means the draft phase carries real financial weight before a single round is played.

🗺️ BLAST is putting a $1.25 million tournament in a city that has never hosted top-tier Counter-Strike. BLAST announced its second 2027 Open will run in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from May 10-23, with 11 teams invited via Valve Regional Standings and five more arriving through qualifiers across Asia, Europe, North America and South America. It's part of a stated push to take majors beyond the usual rotation, following recent expansions into Rio de Janeiro, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malta. 

The timing carries weight: The MongolZ built Mongolia's Counter-Strike reputation from nothing, and while the team's 2026 form has cooled, the region's fanbase hasn't gone anywhere. A tier-one event on home turf, even ten months out, is the kind of signal that outlasts any single roster's slump.

📈 StarSeries Fall just got a lot more interesting. StarLadder invited four ranked top-10 teams, Vitality, Natus Vincere, FURIA and MOUZ, to its $500,000 September LAN, a sharp step up from last year's field, which had exactly one top-20 team. Four more spots open through European, North American and South American qualifiers starting in late July. (Buzz Score: 58/100)

🤝 ENCE's international breakup claimed another player. FOKUS signed Finnish AWPer Paavo "podi" Heiskanen from ENCE, benched since the org disbanded its international roster in May, to replace Georgi "Jorko" Mitev, who left for Liquid. FOKUS is still one player short of a full five. (Buzz Score: 46/100)

📊 HLTV gave stat nerds a new toy. The site launched Round Swing Insights, a breakdown that sits inside every match's Performance tab and extends the Rating 3.0 framework introduced earlier this year. It's a niche addition, but it's the kind of tool that reshapes how the loudest stat arguments on the site get fought. (Buzz Score: 38/100)

🇵🇹 Portugal's academy pipeline added two more names. SAW Youngsters permanently signed rifler Miguel "M1KA" Moreira and brought in Miguel "ner0" Videira as head coach, filling out an all-Portuguese five-man roster. (Buzz Score: 32/100)
